Games Night: Central Boardgaming (Walsall)

Venue: The Black Country Arms, 9 High Street, Walsall, WS1 1QW. We aim to sit Upstairs.

All levels of experience welcome. We play fortnightly on Fridays, so don't forget to RSVP to earlier and later event iterations too!

Our members have a great collection of modern tabletop board games to choose from. We rotate them each time, so there will always be variety. Please feel free to bring along similar games of your own.

This is intended as a low-cost evening, but please do keep the owners happy with something from behind the counter/bar.

To make it easiest for you to jump into a game straight away, it's best to arrive at the start of the session and stay on, plus it's worth trying new games as well as ones we already know how to play.

Location and parking
Parking is possible in nearby roads, though perfect for public transport. The venue is a distinctive building on your left as you pass through the Markets area coming from the bus or train stations, opposite Asda.

Attendance: As with all events, please RSVP courteously, which means that no-shows and withdrawals in the last 24 hours are impolite. We need to reserve just the right amount of tables and seats.

Pub Crawl: Best Boozers in Burton

Pub crawls have been very popular previously, and we are slightly overdue to venture into Burton upon Trent, which has regular trains from Birmingham etc. We will spend a whole afternoon sampling fine ales and ciders, and socializing at our leisure. Typical we drink in half pints to do more sampling!

Itinerary:
Arrive by train and/or bus, and we will spend about an hour in each of several good pubs around the city centre, which are only a few minutes apart on foot .

Gathering:
The idea is that we gather at Wetherspoons to allow for time variations in our public transport over a coffee or a pint, with a view to starting our good-pub tour at Midday sharp. Breakfast is available at Wetherspoons, Cobs and snacks may be available at some of the others.

By current timetables, train leave Birmingham New Street at 0949 and 10:09 arriving at Burton at 10:18 and 10:37 respectively, allowing time to walk to the first venue. Return trains are at 18:50, 19:21, 19:41 and 19:51.

Note: We can't guarantee the exact running order in advance, to maintain flexibility and to discourage joining and leaving at odd times, which should maintain the social dynamic of a fully-attended event, and avoid effort and disruption looking for people repeatedly.

So you need to arrive somewhere between 11am and 12pm (which allows plenty of leeway) please and then stick with us.

Transport
Public Transport is strongly recommended, to avoid driving. Use bustimes.org or thetrainline.com to identify suitable routes.
