GO: Book and Drama; Online Fiction Club

The return of a great event format. We will run one such event each month, usually on the 2nd Thursday, subject to a chosen piece of literature or drama being proposed in advance.

We plan to bring together the worlds of books with films to create a multicultural midweek social evening. There are many cinema groups and many book clubs (each having pros and cons). Our format combines the best of both worlds, and aims to provoke discussion on comparisons.

Each month, a title will be chosen for reading (watching) during the following month. There will generally be a book (either buyable, borrowable, kinder) and potentially also a film (either cinema or netflix/ prime/ etc) and you should please read/watch at least one. If there is a TV-film or Re-Make or Theatre, there may even be a third option. Or sometimes there may just be a book!

It is down to you, our members, to take turns nominating a title for a future month, and create an online link (zoom, messenger, teams) and open the line for discussion on the night. We will grant you host/admin rights. If there are many nominations, we can schedule ahead by more than one month, or increase the event frequency, or if there is no nomination, we will skip a month.

As a courtesy, please make a diary note so that others know you will reliably attend, as there is nothing more infuriating than late withdrawals and no-shows
