Local Walk: Highgate Common & Broadfields

A pleasant countryside walk of around 8 miles, to perk you up after the seasonal excesses! Do join us! It's a pleasant route with views, not too strenuous so suitable for new and regular walkers alike, and people do say that our walks are definitely the best!!

Logistics
Meet: 10:10 for prompt 10:20 start. Allow time, or check a map in advance, since postcode navigation won't get you to the exact place.
Distance: Modest distance of just over 8 miles, due to reduced daylight.
Start Point: Camp Hill Road 'Pool' Car Park, Highgate Common, OS grid reference SO835897. This is between Swindon and Enville. No postcode, the nearest is DY7 5BS but will only get you onto adjacent Highgate Road
Parking: There are many car parks on Highgate Common Country Park, this one is where we met in 2023. Phone signal in the area is unreliable.
Terrain: Mix of woodland, and open countryside with gentle gradients and views, and we will cover part of the Staffordshire Way.

Refreshments: Picnic stop, and probable short Pub Stop in Bobbington somewhere near mid distance.
Bring: Waterproofs & Refreshments & Good walking footwear, and clothing to match the weather.

Safety
As with any outdoor activity, there is some inherent risk. Whilst we aim to avoid unnecessary risks, participants should take all reasonable precautions themselves. A suitable pace for the walk will be determined by the walk leader, which others must observe by keeping in visible distance, not forging ahead or lagging behind. Those attending are totally responsible for their own safety. You must be comfortable walking the specified distance in order to attend please.
