Country Walk: Hixon & Dapple Heath, Staffordshire

New route from a village (Hixon) which we haven't visited for several years. The route is mainly level, peaceful, covers mainly woodland and farmed meadows, and passes a couple of lakes, and an airfield towards the end.

And for those bored with bluebells, this is yet another pretty grape-hyacinth walk!

Logistics
Meet: 10:20 for prompt start within 10 min, or sooner if those visible are ready.
Distance: Either 9 miles or 11 miles, depending on whether we take the short or long route around the airfield.
Start Point: Council public car park (next to memorial hall), High Street, Hixon, ST18 0QF
Parking: Please use car park or spread parking around village side roads
Terrain: Our walk route will cover mixed countryside as per above.
Refreshments: Bring Picnic Lunch, and we will include a pub stop around mid-way (the Cock at Stowe) with optional visit to The Bank House at the end,
Bring: Waterproofs & Refreshments & Good walking footwear, and clothing to match the weather.
Guests: Under 16s & dogs (under control) may attend as guests.

As with any outdoor activity, there is some inherent risk. Whilst we aim to avoid unnecessary risks, participants should take all reasonable precautions themselves. A suitable pace for the walk will be determined by the walk leader, which others must observe by keeping in visible distance, not forging ahead or lagging behind. Those attending are totally responsible for their own safety. You must be comfortable walking the specified distance in order to attend please.

Places are not unlimited, so withdrawing in the last 24 hours is impolite. Attendances shouldn't be compromised by ghosting (no-shows, late withdrawals).
