SWCP....Marazion to Porthleven
Details
Day 12 of our South West Coastal Path Adventure!
Sadly, assuming we make it this far, this will be the last full day's hike for this year, or it may be the first hike of 2027's continuation.
We leave camp at 8.30 walking to Heammor, Parc, letta - 8 minutes.
8.50 Bus 4A to Penzance bus station at 9.00
9.05 Bus 2 to the Sqaure, Marazion.
Today's walk is rated Moderate to Strenuous! 10.8 miles (17.4km)
Much of today's hike will give views of the castle on St. Micheal's Mount.
We start fairly easy and level, but the path narrows, and we start roller coasting over the cliffs up and beyond Praa Sands.
As we continue, there will be clear evidence of a mining history, especially around Perranuthnoe, the path passes some sandy beaches, followed by rugged scenery beyond Rinsey Head where there are some tiring climbs.
The granite turns to slate, where there are some dramatic vertical cliffs.
Soon we approach the pretty fishing village of Porthleven our finish for today's hike and this year's South West Coastal Path adventure.
Participants will need packed lunch and at least 2 litres of fluids, rain and wind proofs, good fitting boots, sun hat, sunglasses and lotion. Personal medication. Participants are responsible for their own health and well-being and should be able to keep up and not forge ahead of the leader.
We walk at about 2mph / 4kmph.
We finish at the harbour bus shelter taking bus 2 at 16.34 to Penzance bus station 17.25. At 1750 bus 4 takes us to Heamoor, Potair Terrace, then our short 8 minute walk back to camp.
