Hill Walk: Teggs Nose & The Cheshire Matahorn
New variant of a Classic route in the splendid Cheshire Peaks, incorporating Shutlingsloe Pike (aka The Cheshire Matahorn), the historic Teggs Nose, The Macclesfield Forest and several lakes (as pictured).
You are welcome to attend on a day-trip basis, or to stay overnight in Macclesfield, as we are doing, to combine Saturday and Sunday walking plus a Saturday evening social making a full weekend of fun!

Logistics:
Meet: 10:20 check-in, to start within 5 to 10 minutes, or earlier if all visible are ready.
Distance: 11 to 12 miles
Journey: Approx 1.75 hours from Birmingham, less if further north, so you'll need to be moving before 9am, or else 10 minutes from Macclesfield..
Start Point: Standing Stone Car Park (which has no signal), unnamed lane off Standing Stone Road, Macclesfield Forest, near SK11 0BE (www=upon.rebirth.entrusted). The postcode is not helpful/accurate, so check map first.
Terrain: Undulating countryside with hills, dales, lakes, forest, reservoirs, and many stunning views.
Parking: See start point.
Directions: From A537 Buxton Road, turn right onto Anker Lane, again right onto Clough Road by a pub, and again right/uphill onto Standing Stone Road, and first right at the trees onto an unmarked road, and car park is on your left after 30 yards.
If coming along Clough Road from the A54, again proceed to the Standing Stone Road turn, but go left/uphill and take first right at the trees onto an unmarked road, and car park is on your left after 30 yards.

Refreshments: Picnic stop, and a good pub stop opportunity (Leathers Smithy) mid distance overlooking a forested lake.
Bring: Waterproofs & Refreshments & Good walking footwear, and clothing to match the weather.
Guests: Under 16s & dogs (behaved, under control) may attend as guests.

Safety:
As with any outdoor activity, there is some inherent risk. Whilst we aim to avoid unnecessary risks, participants should take all reasonable precautions themselves. A suitable pace for the walk will be determined by the walk leader, which others must observe by keeping in visible distance, not forging ahead or lagging behind. Those attending are totally responsible for their own safety, and must be comfortable walking the specified distance please.

Places are not unlimited, so withdrawing in the last 24 hours is impolite. Attendances shouldn't be compromised by ghosting (no-shows, late withdrawals).
