What we're about

This is GoTO, meant to bring GTA Gophers together so we can learn and collaborate, regardless of skill level. This group is intended to provide:

- avenues for continuous improvement and growth.

- an avenue for developers to present their ideas and experiences through presentations and talks,

- a time where we can get together to hack together software to help improve the Go community.

- times where we can just get together and talk about what we are working on.

Please be aware that we have a Code of Conduct (https://gist.github.com/tanema/2c727179f2a58b38a301bcbe2e7c15b8) that applies to this and other Golang events.

If you'd like to speak, let us know! We've got a little form online at: http://speak.golangto.io/

We're also on the gophers slack group, in the #toronto channel: http://slack.golangto.io/

We record and release the talks online at: http://talks.golangto.io/

GoTO: Tech Talks

Fionn MacCool's

Hi Everybody! We're super late getting this event together but we're going to be running Go-TO next Wednesday Talks for the month: Steven Soroka - Go Validation Shanjeef Satchi - Reflection In Go: A Practical Application For Strings Localization League Inc. provides employee health insurance and spending account benefits to members. As an increasing number of our members are in non-English speaking locales, our goal is to build out a localization pipeline. The first component in this system is to identify strings stored in benefit informational attributes. We've leveraged Go's reflect pkg to identify strings in embedded structs. I'd like to present a talk re: the details of the reflect pkg, and how you can iterate an object's fields and analyze their type and value, as well as handle embedded structs. We'll be at Fionn McCool's on Front Street this month. We have talks online from the last month at http://talks.golangto.io/. You can find us online through the #toronto channel of https://gophers.slack.com/ If you'd like to speak at a meetup in the future , definitely let us know! The best way to do so is via our little form at: http://speak.golangto.io/ Cheers! Zach
