GoTO: Tech Talks

Details

Hi Everybody!

Talks for the month:

Tim Anema (Shopify) - Go has destructors, did you know? Exploring `runtime.SetFinalizer()` or how I implemented lazy loading and object releasing in Go for games programming

Prasanth Vaaheeswaran (IBM) - tmux + go

Devon H. O'Dell (Google) - The debugging mindset
In The Elements of Programming Style, Brian Kernighan wrote, "Everyone knows that debugging is twice as hard as writing a program in the first place. So if you're as clever as you can be when you write it, how will you ever debug it?" This talk applies modern research in social- and positive psychology in an attempt to answer this question. We'll cover why debugging is difficult, what makes some folks seem better than others at it, and -- most importantly -- what we can do to improve the experience of debugging for everyone!

We have talks online from the last month at http://talks.golangto.io/.
You can find us online through the #toronto channel of https://gophers.slack.com/
If you'd like to speak at a meetup in the future , definitely let us know! The best way to do so is via our little form at: http://speak.golangto.io/

Cheers!
Zach
