Go meetup @ Worldline (Hoofddorp)

Details

Let's start the year 2025 fresh with a Go meetup, with talks, hosted by Worldline in Hoofddorp (close to the train station).

As Worldline is a PCI-DSS (Credit Card Detail Processing) company, all attendees must bring a valid form of identification. Without ID, entry will not be permitted.

We will be gathering on Thursday January 16.
Doors will open at 17:00, and presentations will start around 18:00. Worldline is graciously providing us drinks and snacks. Talks will end around 20:00. We'll have a break, and plenty of time to meet & talk to fellow gophers.

Lightning talks:
- "What's new in Go 1.24", by George Sereda
- "A Go struct Explorer Service that offers remote inspection of any Go struct and its references", by Ernest Micklei

Talks:

- "TinyGo, WebAssembly, and gamedev", by Gram
TinyGo and WebAssembly are two wonderful technologies that make Go run anywhere. Join us on the journey from JS-free frontend to embedded devices, the smallest game console in the world, and the first in the world Go-first WebAssembly-powered handheld game console.

- "Building web apps in Go, a story about small social network", by Dmitrii Petrov
We all love to write go as well as to do side projects. There is nothing like Rails in go, so what does it take to build a web app with go on the backend? I'll share my story of finding a stack and approach that works well for me, maybe for you as well! We won't be talking about react + apis, rather it will be about htmx, stimulus.js and all things on go side that allow one to add and iterate on functionality quickly, as well as about limitations of this approach.

Please keep your RSVP status up to date! Doing so helps organize the meetup tremendously (with waiting list, capacity planning, food & drinks). Thank you!

If you want to talk about Go right now, join us on channel #amsterdam at the existing gophers.slack.com workspace. Sign up through https://invite.slack.golangbridge.org/.

Hope to see you soon!

Cheers,
Go Amsterdam meetup team

PS: Photography/Video Consent. We will be taking photos and videos during the event and will use these photos and videos for social media, and promotional materials. By coming to the meet-up, you give us your consent to take photos and videos of you.
