It's 2016 and Go 1.6 is just around the corner, in fact, it might already be released by the time of this meetup. Let's celebrate the 7th release of the Go Programming Language.

This meetup is part of a world wide release party for Go 1.6 (https://github.com/golang/go/wiki/Go-1.6-release-party).

Note: the meetup is being held at the Google offices in the Accenture building, the one next to the Star. Do not go to the Fairfax building!

Agenda:

* Go 1.6 overview

* Using Go pipelines for data processing

Pablo Rozas Larraondo work as a high performance data analyst at the National Computational Infrastructure (NCI) in Canberra. The NCI has a multipetabyte geospatial data collection and they are looking into new models of processing these data in distributed environments. At the NCI we think Go is a great language to build distributed systems and to expose data. Its presence is quickly growing in our software products.

Lightning talks:

* Lightning talk 1, 2, 3 (tba, please contact us if you'd like give a 5-10 minute lightning talk)

Post meetup drinkup:
