You might be forgiven for thinking that this is just an excellent gelato shop. But step through that red fridge door at the back and into a secret, one-of-a-kind reservations-only speakeasy dining room, and you’ll discover a world of craft cocktails, wines from Italy, and a menu of housemade pastas and other impeccable Italian food.

Rumors have started flying about a new secret restaurant in Rittenhouse that you access through a bright red refrigerator door in a gelato shop. It’s hard to believe that a restaurant with 125 seats in the busy, historic neighborhood could be kept a secret, but owners Massimo and Ana Boni somehow pulled it off. The husband-and-wife team first opened a gelateria at this location in October 2023 and then built out the attached space – that once housed the restaurant Branzino – into a full-fledged hidden Italian restaurant, called Vita.

Join us at Vita - Life's best kept secret. Behind the red door of our Rittenhouse gelateria, you'll find handmade pasta and Italian cuisine in a casual fine dining setting. Our bar menu features playfully crafted cocktails and Italian wine.
