Long, long ago, the world was split and a huge section of land was locked away from the rest of the world. This region became known as the Northern Reaches and due to powerful warding magic, travel to and from this region was impossible. Recent events, however, have made exploration of these Northern Reaches a pressing priority and select groups of explorers of all kinds (scientists, adventurers, archeologists, traders, spiritual seekers, and a few well connected thrill seekers) have been granted limited access to enter and discover what they can about the secrets of this realm.

You are part of a diverse group of explorers that has spent the summer in a temporary village in the Northern Reaches, a permanently frozen wasteland that is habitable only in its warmest months. Those “warm” months are over and the entire camp has broken down its gear and packed up to leave. We meet the party as they travel through snow covered mountain passes trying to return to warmer lands before life becomes impossible here; what could possibly go wrong? Let’s find out together!

You can use the optional rules in the 2024 PHB to customize character backgrounds to suit your character concept. You are starting at level 5 and are moderately seasoned adventurers so you have whatever mundane equipment you think your character might have (no magic items).
