🚘🚘 Join in for a thrill-seeking 90 minutes of sportscar racing in Austin for the 'GT Challenge America' sportscar race at the famed Circuit of the Americas! 🏁🏁

It's one of the most fan-friendly racing events on the motorsports calendar, with a generous paddock open to visitors to get a sneak peak of the garages, sportscars, teams in action and open seating across the circuit. Having attended the race last year, I can vouch for this race as a perfect racing event to attend for first timers!

Expect an electrifying mix of road legal sports cars heavily modded with engine upgrades and aerodynamics on the grid, from Mercedes AMG to BMW M4, to Porsche 911, Aston Martin Vantage, Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Corvette, Audi R8, Ferrari 296, McLaren 720s and Toyota 86

Although there is shuttle service to and from parking to the paddock, grandstands and other viewing areas, be sure to know there will be a lot of walking involved around the circuit, looking at about 5-9 miles (10,000-18,000 steps)! For those not interested to walk around the circuit, there is the Velocity Lounge adjacent to the grandstand with Air Conditioning available to watch the race on their television screens

The GT World Challenge race weekend begins Friday with practice and qualifying sessions, and our plan will be for Sunday, 26th April to attend the main event! The race begins 12:30 pm till 4 pm but I've added 12 pm as the starting time on the meetup app so we can coordinate and meet at the grandstand in time for the race.

The Sunday ticket covers racing activity starting from 8 am with support races and if you'd like to join earlier the morning, feel free! I'll be in the paddock exploring garages and sponsor activations.

Some must-knows for first time race attendees:

  1. It's ideal to bring a shoulder bag with sunscreen, power bank, etc
  2. Food and drinks are not allowed from outside
  3. There are free water stations placed across the circuit
  4. Sports/walking shoes best suited for going around the circuit
  5. I will share parking details closer to time. The circuit has an allocated area for car park
  6. Lots of loud engine noises!
  7. The drive from SanAntonio to Austin is 1.5-2 hours

Tickets for the Sunday race cost $43: https://www.tixr.com/groups/sro/events/sro-gt-world-texas-168237
