Sail aboard Shanty from Richmond Marina Bay Harbor

Details

Please sign up on the waitlist. My partner Barbara and I prefer to take up to 2-3 more people, for a total of no more than 5.

If selected, please make sure to be on time as the tides do not wait for anybody.

Shanty is 1988 Catalina 34 is a fast and safe sloop with a deep dodger, self-tacking jib and boom brake to prevent accidental gibes. She is well maintained, comfortable and easy to sail. Shanty is moored at Marina Bay Yacht Harbor in Richmond.

"Always be prepared for cold and wet conditions, regardless of weather and season. Summer months are usually very windy. Dress in layers with outer shell being wind and waterproof. Synthetics are better than cotton. Warm and tight hat is recommended. It’s always a good idea to have a set of warm and dry clothes to change to. Trust me on this one. Please wear white-sole or non marking shoes. Don’t forget the sunscreen.

Please use a bathroom on land before we go, even when you feel you don’t have to. The boat has a head (bathroom) but using it underway is difficult and I try to limit the trips to the pump out station to a minimum.

The boat has all the safety equipment required by USCG, including life jackets (PFD’s) for everyone on board, First Aid Kit, fire extinguishers, flares, VHF marine radio and GPS." (Thank you Richard).

I enjoy company of people who are passionate about sailing, whether they have plenty of experience under sail or just started learning.
