Re: [gotwaw] Got Wind and Water Emails

There's nothing stylistic about letting people know if they have a spot or not, especially when you say you will.  That is simple courtesy.

There is nothing tricky about refraining from making veiled threats. Threatening people for objecting to rudeness is beyond inappropriate.

Members have a right to know when a MeetUp organizer is rude and threatening to other group members.

I did nothing but share Mr. Tishler's own rude and threatening emails with the members.  Each member is free to draw their own conclusions from them.

So don't apologize for me.  I have nothing to apologize for.

Subject: [gotwaw] Got Wind and Water Emails

To all Got Wind and Water members,
This is your Organizer, John Cabrall speaking.
First, I want to apologize for the email behavior of two of our organizers.  A series of posts on an event page, and in the discussion forum boiled over into at least one email going out to the group.
Second, I want to state firmly what my feelings are, as the founder and organizer of the group.  Organizing sailing events are tricky, and organizing sailing events that are part of a race event are even more tricky.  There are all levels of racing boats, from casual beercans to the Rolex Big Boat Series.  Each skipper has his/her own style and his/her own way of going about things.  I'm not going to go into the details of what happened between these two organizers.  In fact, I haven't read all the posts, or all of the emails or talked to both of them.
It is expected that each organizer and each member of this group be courteous and respectful towards each other. The minute you start to get offended, contact me so I can mediate before posts and emails start going out to the rest of the group.
Sincerely Yours,
John Cabrall,
Founder, Got Wind and Water
