Details

Get the new year off to a good start by reading and discussing "Antigone", by Sophocles. You can download the 70-page play by going to the website, http://classics.mit.edu/Sophocles/antigone.html

What makes "Antigone" such a great play? It has strong characters, tremendous drama, and addresses relevant issues such as civil disobedience and the abuse of power.

Here are two suggestions to get the most out of the play: (1) if you can, try to read it twice - the first time to get the general idea and the second time to understand it; and (2) come to the discussion with any questions you have about about the play.

We should have a stimulating discussion and also get to appreciate an all-time classic play.

Afterwards, some of us go out for coffee to continue the discussion and talk about other things. Everyone is welcome.
