Alka Kaminer is the co-organizer of this group and co-founder of the Present Wisdom, she teaches a variety of yoga styles, including Hatha Yoga, Chair Yoga and Restorative Yoga. Learn more about Alka and Present Wisdom (https://presentwisdom.com/).

Our intention is to provide learning and practice opportunities in yoga and meditation, especially ones that are accessible online for health safety. The group will also share events by experienced and dedicated teachers, including Lawrence Edwards and the Anam Cara Meditation Foundation (http://anamcara-ny.org/).

She also teaches various types of meditation (breathe, mantra, mindfulness) which she has been using from an early age. She strives to help cultivate happiness and health through her yoga and meditation teachings. Alka aspires to bring an energetic approach to movement and a quiet dedication in service to meditation and restorative work. Meditation with Lawrence Edwards

Since 2001 Anam Cara Meditation Center has been offering an ongoing nondenominational meditation class that meets every Thursday evening, except for holidays. They offer these open meditation sessions to support people in learning and deepening their meditation practices. Enjoy!
Programs include instruction, chanting and meditation.

Topics include:
First Thursday of the month: dharma talk
Second Thursday: Readings and contemplations from various traditions
Third Thursday: chanting
Fourth Thursday: Heart Sutra chant and Buddhist teachings
Fifth Thursday – occasionally there is a 5th one! Come and be surprised!

Beginners are welcome, along with experienced meditators. A wide variety of techniques and practices are taught, including chanting, mantra and mindfulness meditation. Everyone is welcome!

Led by Lawrence Edwards, PhD, Founder & Director, who trained as a monk in India and has been teaching internationally for over 45 years. He is an author, poet and retreat leader. Visit www.thesoulsjourney.com for more information.

Dr. Edwards teaches Swatantriya Meditation – the meditation of absolute freedom which includes practices from all traditions. Swatantriya Meditation is based on the inner power of Consciousness called Kundalini in the yogic tradition. It embraces and empowers all meditation techniques to take you beyond the confines of the ordinary mind.

Fee: All donations gratefully accepted ($20 suggested donation per session). Donations are tax deductible.
