About us
It's only been in the last 20 years that I started regularly reading this genre. I know there had to be plenty of people in the Tacoma area wanting to share this passion with a group of like-minded readers. I did not see evidence of a book club Meetup devoted to Sci-Fi and Fantasy when I started looking. So, here we are. If you're passionate about reading and discussing sci-fi AND fantasy books, film and television this is the place for you! Once a month we'll meet to discuss the current book selection, as well as select the book and the date for the next month's reading. Along the way we take some time to talk about film and tv shows. Everyone gets a chance to offer up their favorites to the group. It's a great way to get recommendations from fellow enthusiasts and experience the myriad imagineerings from many different perspectives.
We're a relaxed bunch and we want to encourage you to come. Remember, something like 90% of life is just showing up. So come if you're read the book, come if you've not read the book, come if you hate the book, just come along and join us!

September 25, 2026: WATER MOON by Samantha Sotto Yambao
·OnlineOnlineRSVPs for this event will close at the end of the day on September 24, so please RSVP early and add the Zoom link to your calendar!
Join us on Zoom in September to discuss WATER MOON by Samantha Sotto Yambao. From Goodreads:
"On a backstreet in Tokyo lies a pawnshop, but not everyone can find it.
"Most will see only a cosy ramen restaurant. And just the chosen ones – those who are lost – will find a place to pawn their life choices and deepest regrets.
"Hana Ishikawa wakes on her first morning as the pawnshop's new owner to find it ransacked, the shop’s most precious acquisition stolen and her father missing. And then into the shop stumbles a charming stranger, quite unlike other customers. For he offers help, instead of seeking it.
"Together, they must journey through a mystical world to find Hana’s father and the stolen choice – through rain puddles, hitching rides on paper cranes, across the bridge between midnight and morning and through a night market in the clouds.
"But as they get closer to the truth, Hana must reveal a secret of her own – and risk making a choice she will never be able to take back."After book discussion, we'll choose a date and title for our next meetup, then round-robin for "What are you reading/what are you watching." See you, space cowboys!
