Walk 5 or 10 km in the Matheson Lake/Pearson College area

Meet at Matheson Lake, Matheson Lake Park Road parking lot, Metchosin. Registration starts at 9:30 am and closes at 9:55 am. The walk starts at 10:00 am. The 5km route (rated 2B) takes walkers through the magnificent forest at Matheson Lake. The 10km route (rated 2C) takes walkers through the forest to Pearson College, where the Gray Whale Skeleton can be viewed, accompanied by an in-depth article on the whale itself and how it was brought back to the college by students. Along the way, we visit a hidden waterfall and stop at the top by the observatory. A hiking pole is highly recommended. Proper footwear is mandatory. (Click here for an explanation of walk ratings).

Regular walkers do not necessarily indicate their attendance on Meetup, but our weekday walks typically attract 10 to 12 people; on weekends, typical attendance is between 15 and 40 people.
