Details
Meet at Juan de Fuca Recreation Center, 1767 Island Highway, View Royal V9B 1J1. Registration opens at 9:30 am and closes at 9:55 am. The walk starts at 10:00 am
The 5 km route takes you through the grounds of the Juan de Fuca golf course, portions of the Galloping Goose trail, and residential areas of Belmont Park.
The 10km route goes around the Juan de Fuca golf course to see the driftwood art of Paul Lewis high in the trees. The “Eagles’ Nest” is his favorite and contains the ashes of his son, who died a few years ago. Continue to the Calypso Trail at the base of Mill Hill Regional Park, Nursery Hill Park, and through the pedestrian tunnel with its unique art. Return to the Juan de Fuca Centre on the Galloping Goose Trail. Both routes are rated 2B. (For an explanation of trail ratings click here.)
Regular walkers do not necessarily indicate their attendance on Meetup, but our weekday walks typically attract 10 to 12 people; on weekends typical attendance is between 15 and 40 people.
New walkers are always welcome.
