Hike 1 or 2 hikes! Hike 1 is a slower paced hike should take 2 hours. Hike 2 is faster paced hike and should take less than 3.5 hours
Hike #1
4 mile, 600 ft Elevation. Slower Paced hike. 2 mph average. Start point is at the Gorge Overlook overflow Parking. This is down road past the bathroom at the Overlook area where the road dead ends into a parking lot with picnic tables. The hike will go down the ladder side of the Gorge trail, cross the swinging bridge and then follow Hemlock trail along the river to the North Rim trail and we will then walk to the new visitor center. Check it out and walk back along the road to the mountain bike trail to return up big A hill.
15-20 break between hikes
Hike 2 (Optional) 8 Mile, 9500 ft elevation Same start point,
We will take the gorge trail down the ladders across the bridge and head west back to the shelter trail, follow the road to group camping and then follow the mountain bike trail to the connector trail leading the bridge at the front of the park. Cross the bridge and take the mountain bike trail to the big A hill and back to the start point. This will be a faster pace than the first hike 2.5-3 mph average pace.
Bring snacks and water. Trekking poles recommended . Dress appropriately for the weather.
Bathroom at start point. No water sources on trail.
