Discover the wild landscapes of Fuerteventura on a four-night hiking adventure based in lively Corralejo. With beautiful beaches, a great choice of restaurants and plenty of bars and atmosphere, it’s the perfect base for exploring some of the island’s best hiking.

Hike through spectacular golden dunes and along the Atlantic coast, with beautiful beach and ocean views.

Isla de Lobos
Take a short boat trip to this peaceful volcanic island for a scenic circular hike along its rugged coastline, beaches and volcanic landscapes, with views towards Fuerteventura and Lanzarote.

Volcanic Landscapes
Head inland to explore ancient volcanic cones and lava fields, with wide-ranging views across Fuerteventura’s dramatic interior.

🌴Relaxing in Corralejo:

Our hotel is just a short walk from the beach, with two outdoor pools, a roof terrace, bar and gym – perfect for cooling off with a swim or relaxing with a drink after a day on the trails. Corralejo itself has plenty to enjoy, from sandy beaches and a lively waterfront to a great choice of restaurants, bars and cafés.

Late February and early March is a great time to explore Fuerteventura, with mild temperatures, plenty of sunshine and ideal conditions for hiking and enjoying the beaches.

ITINERARY:

Sat 27/02 - Arrival in Corralejo, Fuerteventura. Rooms ready for check in from 4PM.

Sun 28/02 - Corralejo Dunes: Hike through the spectacular Parque Natural de Corralejo, following trails across golden dunes and along the Atlantic coast. (16km, 150m up/down).

Mon 01/03 - Volcanic landscapes: Explore ancient volcanic cones and lava fields on trails through Fuerteventura’s dramatic inland landscape, with wide-ranging island views.
(18km, 500m up/down).

Tue 02/03 - Isla de Lobos: Take a short boat trip to Isla Lobos for a circular hike through volcanic landscapes, rugged coastline and quiet beaches, with views towards Fuerteventura and Lanzarote.
(12km, 150m up/down).

Wed 03/03 - Trip finish, check out from the apartments by 11AM.

This itinerary is subject to change due to weather conditions and other factors. Hiking stats are approximate.

DIFFICULTY - MODERATE:

The hikes are suitable for regular walkers with a reasonable level of fitness who are comfortable walking on uneven and rocky ground. Expect a mix of sandy paths, rocky volcanic terrain and coastal trails, with some moderate ascents. Hiking days will range from approximately 12–18 km.

FLIGHTS AND AIRPORT TRANSFERS:

There are multiple flights from London and other UK airports with airlines including easyJet, Ryanair, British Airways and Jet2, giving plenty of options for getting to Fuerteventura, currently from just £72 return.

From Fuerteventura Airport, it’s easy to reach our accommodation in Corralejo by local bus or taxi. If you are planning to take the local bus, please make sure your chosen flight times align with the bus timetable.

Sharing a taxi can be a convenient and cost-effective option for those arriving on the same or similar flights.

A WhatsApp group will be set up before the trip so participants can coordinate flights, arrange shared airport transfers and discuss ideas for trip extensions.

The organiser will likely be staying in Fuerteventura for a few extra nights before/after the trip, and anyone is welcome to join. I’ll let those booked onto the trip know once my flights are booked.

The nearby island of Lanzarote is also just a short ferry ride from Corralejo, making it an easy option for anyone who would like to add some extra exploring.

The Maltese islands of Malta and Gozo lie in the heart of the Mediterranean between Sicily and the North African coast and have a history stretching back seven millennia.

Malta may be a small country, but it packs in plenty of diversity for hikers. A combination of dramatic coastlines, lush countryside with exotic flora, colourful villages, and unique historic sites makes walking on Malta and Gozo exceptionally varied and fascinating.

On this trip we will explore some of the best sights and natural features these small, but versatile islands have to offer, from spectacular clifftop trails and beautiful beaches to a historic sites and medieval watchtowers.

Mid March is the perfect time to hike in Malta, when the climate is moderate and the island is in bloom. Vibrant colours blanket the Maltese countryside with a backdrop of azure Mediterranean waters.

ACCOMMODATION:

We have booked modern and comfortable twin/double and single occupancy rooms in the 4-star Solana Hotel & Spa. Our lovely hotel is set in Malta’s scenic north, within the vibrant village of Mellieħa.

All rooms have balconies and the hotel has four inviting pools, a spa with sauna and a gym. The rooftop terrace offers panoramic rooftop vistas and breath-taking sunsets.

ITINERARY:

Fri 12/03 - Arrival in Malta. Rooms ready for check in from 3PM.

Sat 13/03 - Hike to Mġarr along spectacular, dramatic cliffs. Our route passes Golden Bay, one of the country's most popular beaches, where there is the opportunity to swim (17km, 500m up/300m down).

Sun 14/03 - We will take the scenic ferry ride across to the captivating island of Gozo. Our hike from Mġarr harbour takes us along the beautiful rugged west coast to Xlendi Bay, a picturesque and popular seaside town (13.5km, 400m up/down). Those up for a longer walk can continue along the rocky coastline to San Lawrenz, via the interesting Dwerja Bay (an extra 8km with 330m up/210 down).

Mon 15/03 - Hike one of Malta’s most iconic trails: the Victoria Lines. A historic defensive wall that runs across northern Malta with ancient forts and dramatic views. (17km, 450m up/down).

Tue 16/03 - Trip finish, check out from the hotel by 11AM.

DIFFICULTY:

Hikes on this trip are moderate but the terrain can be rocky and uneven. You will need the fitness to cover up to about 11 miles with 500m of ascent and descent. Hikes can be cut short by taking local buses/taxis if needed.

There are numerous convenient flights to Malta from the UK with options from/to multiple London airports with KM Malta Airlines, Easyjet, British Airways and Ryanair. Please use Skyscanner to find the most suitable flights for you.

In order to give everyone the flexibility to choose the flights most convenient for them (or decide to extend their stay) we have not included airport transfers.

There is a direct airport bus (X10) between the airport and the hotel (bus stop is 250 away) and local taxis are also affordable (Bolt/Uber apps work in Malta). It will be easy to take the bus to our hotel and those on the same flights can team up and share taxis together.

Hidden within the rolling hills of northern Italy lies one of Europe's most fascinating and least-visited destinations. A mountainous microstate completely enclosed by Italy, San Marino is the world's oldest surviving republic, with a rich and fiercely independent history spanning more than 1,700 years.

Perched atop the rocky peaks of Monte Titano, its UNESCO-listed fortress towers, cobbled medieval streets and remarkably well-preserved historic architecture create a true fairytale setting. From the ancient ramparts, dramatic mountain-top views stretch across the Apennines to the Adriatic Sea.

Despite covering just 61 square kilometres, San Marino packs an incredible amount into a small area. Beyond its fascinating historic centre, a network of scenic trails winds through forests, limestone ridges and peaceful countryside, revealing spectacular landscapes, charming villages and scenic viewpoints.

Early autumn is a great time to visit San Marino, with pleasant hiking weather, fewer visitors, and stunning panoramic views across the autumn landscape.

ITINERARY:

Saturday 25/09 - Arrival in San Marino. Rooms ready for check in from 2PM.

Sunday 26/09 – Today's hike begins along the famous Witches' Path (Passo delle Streghe) and the spectacular Sentiero della Rupe cliff trail, offering breathtaking views from the slopes of Monte Titano. We then continue to Monte Pennicciola and along the scenic Sentiero di Castellaccio, before making our final climb back via Torre del Montale and the summit of Monte Titano.
Hike stats: 14km | 1,075m ascent/descent (potential options to shorten the hike).

Monday 27/09 – Today we head to Monte Cerreto, where we'll be rewarded with superb panoramic views across San Marino and the surrounding countryside. From here, we continue along the beautiful Gorgascura Trail, following peaceful woodland paths and valleys to the picturesque Canapa Waterfalls before returning to our hotel.
Hike stats: 16km | 750m ascent/descent.

Tuesday 28/09 – After taking the cable car down from the historic centre, we set off on a scenic traverse following the Sentiero Ca' Rigo and Sentiero Ausa, passing through Laiala Park and alongside the route of San Marino's former railway. Our hike finishes in the village of Serravalle, from where we'll return by bus or taxi and cable car to the upper town.
Hike stats: 14km | 340m ascent | 720m descent.

Wednesday 29/09 - Trip finishes. Check out of the hotel by 11AM.

DIFFICULTY:

This trip is suitable for experienced hikers with a good level of fitness who enjoy regular day hikes. The walks include some steep climbs, descents, woodland trails, and rocky/uneven/slippery terrain.

The Sentiero della Rupe cliff path offers spectacular views but includes a few exposed sections and requires a head for heights. Alternative options may be available for those who prefer to avoid the cliff sections.

WHAT IS INCLUDED:

• 4 nights twin/double or single occupancy accommodation (double room for single use) in a 4 star hotel
• 4 breakfasts
• An itinerary of organised hikes for our three hiking days

FLIGHTS AND AIRPORT TRANSFERS:

It is still too early to book flights, but the closest airport to San Marino is Rimini Airport. There are flights from London with airlines such as EasyJet, Ryanair and British Airways (depending on the day of travel), while Ryanair also operates flights from Manchester.

For a wider choice of flights, Bologna Airport is a good alternative. Bologna is well served by direct flights from across the UK and is approximately 1½ hours from Rimini by shuttle bus.

From Rimini Bus Station, regular buses take around 50 minutes to reach San Marino (see this link for details).

Airport transfers are not included, giving everyone the flexibility to choose the flights that best suit their budget and travel plans. We will set up a WhatsApp group for the trip so people can coordinate travel plans if they like.
