Γιασσας! I hope folks are having a good year so far. We head back to Virginia for our next Greek Language MeetUp at Our Mom Eugenia in Shirlington on Thursday, February 27th at 7:30 pm.

The calendar is starting to fill up with other Hellenic events, including:

  • Our friends at The Hellenic Society Prometheas invite us to the Celebration of the International Day of the Greek Language on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 6 pm at St. George’s Founders Hall in Bethesda. This year’s keynote speaker is Polyvia Parara, PhD, Senior Lecturer, Department of Classics, University of Maryland. More information can be found at Prometheas’ website.
  • DCGreeks invites us to Greek Heritage Night on Friday, February 21, 2025, at 7:00 PM as the Washington Wizards take on Giannis Antetokounmpo the Milwaukee Bucks. The event will feature a pregame Greek folk dance performance by DC's own Byzantio Greek Dance & Cultural Arts Program! Tickets can be purchased in DCGreeks.com block at https://fevogm.com/wiz-greek25. I have tickets in Section 115 if you want to try to get sit near me, and let me know if anyone wants to meet for a drink at Zaytinya before catching the pre-game performance.
  • On Friday, February 28, at 6:30 p.m. Yvette Manessis Corporon will present her latest book “Daughter of Ruins”. She is an international bestselling author and three-time Emmy Award-winning writer, author and producer. This event is cosponsored by Prometheas and the Hellenic American Women’s Council (HAWC). Place: The Hellenic Center in Bethesda, MD. Reception to follow.
  • On Saturday, March 1st, AHEPA Chapter #31 of Washington will celebrate its 100-year anniversary with a special, one-night-only event: George Margaritis Live Bouzoukia, with special guest Constantine Margaritis. The show starts at 8 pm, with a welcome reception at 6:30 pm, at St. George Greek Orthodox Church Grand Hall, 7701 Bradley Blvd, Bethesda, MD 20817. Tickets are on sale now at dcgreeks.com; let me know if folks are interested in sitting together, etc.
