DC Greek Language Meetup

Γιασσας! I hope all our members had a great Lent and Easter season. After toasting Greek Independence Day in DC, we’ll head back to Maryland to break the fast at Mykonos in Rockville (apologies for the confusion; I meant to change the venue earlier) on Thursday, April 24th at 7:30 pm.
Sadly, I’m out of town for the 24th (and May 1st so did not reschedule) so will need someone to serve as host.

There are a couple of other great Greek events to highlight:

• The UMD Modern Greek Studies Program cordially invites us to attend the 9th Annual UMD Modern Greek Studies Conference, featuring presentations by undergraduate students and faculty on the theme: Hellenism in Cyprus: Historical Trajectory from Antiquity to the Present. The conference will take place on Saturday, May 3, 2025, 1:00–4:00 PM at Marie Mount Hall, Room 1400, University of Maryland, College Park.
• Our friends at the Hellenic Society Prometheas invite us to a picnic at Burke Lake Park on Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 3:30 PM - 7:30 PM. The picnic will be held at Shelter C of Burke Lake Park, 7315 Ox Road, Fairfax Station, VA 22039. Admission Includes: rotisserie chicken, ribs, along with chicken nuggets for kids, plus salad, beer, wine and sodas. Tickets, $30 for adults, with children under 12 free, can be purchased at dcgreeks.com. Ticket sales end on 4/22/25.
• Mark your calendars for Saint Sophia’s Greek Festival, on May 16-18th. I will likely volunteer on Saturday the 17th if anyone wants to join me.
