Dive into the exhilarating world of improv with us at the park or library! Our group is all about creating a safe, welcoming space under the open sky, where anyone can step into the spotlight and discover the joy of improvisation.
And the best part? It’s completely free. Whether you're an improv newbie, just looking to brush off your spontaneity skills amidst nature (in summer), books, or, like me, always on the lookout for a fun jam session, you've found your spot.
Here, it's not about being perfect; it's about being present and giving it a go. We're a community of kind, supportive folks eager to meet and cheer on like-minded improv enthusiasts. Don't know how to start? No worries (igotchu!), we’re all learning together!
Join us to not only have fun but also boost your self-esteem, enhance your public speaking abilities, and improve your work life, all while enjoying the beautiful park setting. Improv is basically a gym for your brain, but instead of lifting heavy weights, you’re just lifting the "filter" that keeps you from being your most awesome, spontaneous self. Most of us are terrified of being "wrong," but in this room, "wrong" doesn't actually exist.
Why this rocks
• Kill the overthinker: You stop editing your thoughts before they even leave your mouth.• The ultimate hype squad: It’s a group of people whose only job is to make you look good.
• Zero prep required: You don’t need a script, a costume, or a single funny bone. You just show up as you.
What to expect
We start with easy warmups to get everyone out of their own heads. After that, we jump into low pressure exercises where we build on each other's ideas instead of shutting them down. You will be in a wildly supportive group where the goal is just to have each other's backs.There is nothing to memorize and zero "performing." It is just about reacting to the person in front of you and trusting your first instinct. You will probably laugh a lot. You will also walk away feeling like you can actually handle whatever curveball a boss or a stranger throws at you next week.
This is for you if:
• Meetings make your palms a little sweaty.
• You’re a student tired of being the quiet one in the back.
• You tend to overthink every word you say (hi, welcome, you’re among friends).
