Book discussion: Philosophical Investigations by Wittgenstein (3)
Details
We are continuing our book discussion on Philosophical Investigations by Wittgenstein.
In the last two sessions, we went through the text quite slowly and got a bit stuck on the details. This time, we are going to speed it up a bit to focus on the bigger picture.
To prepare, we read the following remarks. For the purpose of the discussion, the remarks have been organised into "chapters" (even though Wittgenstein himself refrained from using this kind of structure):
- Remarks 78–88: The Myth of Absolute Precision
- Remarks 89–133: The Philosopher’s Therapy
- Remarks 134–142: Dismantling the "Inner Meaning"
- Remarks 143–184: The Mechanics of "Getting It"
- Remarks 185–202: The Eccentric Counter & The Social Solution
We will use this outline during the discussion, going through the "chapters" one by one.
Happy reading & see you on the 5th!
