[THOUSAND ISLAND] SPECIAL Marble Rock Hike! Long Weekend Adventure @ 1000 Island

Details

Join us this Saturday for a SPECIAL long weekend hike at the Thousand Islands National Park.

Marble Rock Conservation Area gives hikers challenging and picturesque terrain, featuring breathtaking views at the lookouts along both the North and South Trails. In the heat of summer, visitors may be relieved to know that much of the trail at Marble Rock is traversed under a lush canopy of trees. Trail difficulty is considered to be medium to high.

Here is what to expect:
- Challenging 7km hike with amazing views - we will be doing the SOUTH loop only.
- 134 m elevation gain... inclines and declines and the trail will take you through tall grass (wear pants and long sleeve shirt)
- forested paths with some sections being challenging and some technical hiking over tree roots and rocks
- lots of rocks so it'll be a good workout for your legs and glutes!
- Post-hike activity: for those who want MORE fun, let's visit the Thousand Islands National Park!

Hike Benefits:
* FREE parking at the trail (no entry fee)
* yoga stretches to warm up before we start the hike and again at the end of the hike
* relaxed pace (we are NOT a fast hiking group). We wait for everyone and slow down when needed/stop and take breaks as needed.
* mindful meditation includes forest bathing (still, quiet time in the forest). We will find a spot in the forest to practise for a minimum of 10 minutes of silent meditation.
* lunch in the forest

What you need to bring:
- wear hiking shoes/hiking boots (check the weather before you leave)
- Winter only: gloves, hat, layers, winter boots, etc., depending on the weather
- Spring/Summer: light rain cover, optional: hiking poles, *mosquito repellant*, sunscreen. Due to tick warnings, wear long pants and long sleeve shirt (no shorts, no tank tops).
- change of clothes for the post-hike activity
- pack AT LEAST 8 cups of water or beverage
- lunch and snacks

Be prepared for all conditions on trail including mud and bugs.

MEETING SPOT:
The meeting spot is shared with hikers once they book their spot and are added to the WhatsApp group.

MEETING TIME:
Meet at 10:45am. I will guide everyone through a warmup and then we will start the hike.
