Why not walk among the azaleas of Mt. Katsuragi, known as "a million azaleas at a glance," and explore Japan's original landscape, along Katsuragi Kodo, or the Katsuragi Old Path?
After meeting up, board a local bus and then take the ropeway to the top of Mt. Katsuragi.
The azalea garden at the top of the mountain will be in full bloom at this time of year, and will be covered in azaleas.

After mountain hike, let's walk along Katsuragi Kodo,or the Katsuragi Old Path. The Katsuragi Old Path runs north to south through areas that were the bases of operations for the powerful Kamo and Katsuragi clans in the 4th and 5th centuries. It is a well-maintained hiking trail that passes through rice paddy fields and forests and offers views of the Yamato Sanzan mountains. Along the way, you will also find the remains of the palace of Emperor Suizei, the second great emperor of Japan.
