Toji Temple was built in 9th Century by Priest Kukai or Kobo-Daishi
His passing day was 21st, so this temple has its traditional market 21st of every month
Especially the market in December is called "Shimai Kobo" or the last Kobo market and people buy traditional new year tools, too
Toji Temple's "Rittai-Mandara" or 3D Mandala by Kukai himself shows us the Universe in Buddhism from the old days, which surprisingly beautiful

東寺は9世紀に弘法大師空海によって建立されました。大師の命日が21日だったため、このお寺では毎月21日に伝統的な市が開かれます。
特に12月の市は「終い弘法」と呼ばれ、人々は伝統的な正月道具などを買い求めます。
また、東寺の「立体曼荼羅」は、空海自身が描いた古代仏教の宇宙観を私たちに示しており、驚くほど美しいです。
東寺だけでなく、六尊王神社、京都駅ビル（空中経路と駅ピアノあり）、梅小路公園（京都水族館と鉄道博物館あり）にもぜひ足を運びましょう！
