A small, guided conversation group for Japanese learners of all levels, from complete beginners to advanced speakers.
Who is this group for?
- Non-native speakers of Japanese
- All levels are welcome, including complete beginners
- Native Japanese speakers do not join as participants

- Everyone speaks in Japanese, whatever their level
- If you don't know how to say something, you can ask me for help in English
- I won't translate the whole conversation into English
I'm a native Japanese speaker, a professional Japanese teacher, and I've also trained in Japanese-English interpreting.
At each meetup, I'll start us off with a few questions and facilitate the conversation from there. There won't be one set topic that you need to prepare for — the questions are simply there to get us talking and see where the conversation goes.
If you want to say something but don't know how to say it in Japanese, you can explain what you mean to me in English. I'll give you a natural way to say it in Japanese, and you can use that Japanese to share your thoughts with the group.
So while this isn't a Japanese class, you'll also have a chance to pick up new words and expressions as we talk. I may put useful Japanese on the screen as it comes up so everyone can learn from it.
Your Japanese doesn't have to be perfect. The idea is to actually use Japanese, learn from the conversation, and connect with other learners — with a professional teacher there to guide the conversation and help when needed.
