Hidden Heritage: Hidden Features of the Black Marsh

Details

Join North Point State Park's Ranger D'Agostino as he guides you through a lesson in landscape interpretation. This guided hike will start at the first lot near the entrance to the park, just after the contact station. Hikers will walk the Black Marsh Trail to the old United Railways & Electric Company power station deep in the woods. Learn why this station was built, how it functioned, and who it served! Learn to interpret the landscape, and see how it was sculpted to meet the needs of the trolley. This hike will also pass the Ferry Grove pier, the only remains of a quiet beach community from the same time. This hike will take about 1.5 hours and will be a 1.5 mile loop with natural and paved tread. This is a flat land hike.
