Perseid Meteor Shower Stargazing Event!

Join North Point State Park Rangers on Tuesday 8/12 from 8:00-9:15 pm for our stargazing event during the 2025 Perseid Meteor Shower! This hike will take place through the scenic Black Marsh wildlands, ending on a secluded beach area with a large open skyline for our stargazing pleasure. Hikers and stargazers of all ages and experience levels are welcome! We will be identifying constellations, and (hopefully) seeing meteors during the peak of the Perseid Meteor Shower.

A park entry fee will be taken at the yellow honor box at our gatehouse (first facility as you enter the park). Please bring cash, put it into a green envelope from the honor box, and insert the cash envelope into the honor box upon entering the park

• $3.00 for cars with Maryland tags
• $5.00 for cars with out-of-state tags

We will be meeting in Lot A, the parking lot just past our gatehouse on the left-hand side. A parking pass will be provided to all attendees who have signed up through MeetUp to post on their dashboard. Please bring proof of sign up with you! Rangers will be in Lot A at 7:45 pm to provide parking passes, and we will be departing for our hike at 8:00 pm sharp. If you arrive late, we cannot guarantee you a parking pass.

What To Bring (materials are recommended, NOT required):

• Comfortable hiking clothes / shoes
• Insect repellant
• Headlamp
• Any stargazing materials you may have (telescope, binoculars, etc.)
• Camera

Our rangers also recommend downloading the “Night Sky” app on your smartphone before attending (again, not required). This app assists with identifying and locating different constellations and planets that may be visible from our location!
