What we're about

Meet nearby Board Game Players! Come to a Gwinnett Board Game Society meetup to play the world's best board and card games and make new friends. Most of our games consist of Eurogames or "designer" games that are simple to learn and fun to play! We have a variety of games to choose from, and our more experienced players enjoy teaching new games at every meeting! Everyone is welcome!

Feel free to drop by during a scheduled meetup and join in the fun!

Thursday Night Gaming at Meeple Madness

Meeple Madness

Note: Due to Atlanta traffic and it being a week night, players tend to wander in between 5pm and 7pm. So, if you can't make it at 5pm, come anyway! This meetup is an opportunity for game enthusiasts to come together and play some of our favorite board and card games. There will be a number of games available for play, as well as friendly folks who can help with the rules. We play a wide variety of board and card games; shorter, longer, casual, strategic, cooperative, and competitive. Many of the games we enjoy are European games like Power Grid, Carcassonne, Agricola, and Ticket to Ride. If you are not familiar with these games, they tend to run from 30 to 90 minutes and are different from most of the boardgames we all grew up with. Players are generally not eliminated from the game, so everybody is engaged for the entire game. They also usually involve the accumulation of victory points, so you generally are not having to take directly from other players to advance yourself. The games are also very sociable and a lot of fun. We also play more thematic games like Last Night on Earth, Battlestar Galactica, and King of Tokyo. These games usually have more direct conflict and player elimination which tends to generate a lot of excitement around the table. These games can be short and sweet and finish in less than 30 minutes, or they can be epic slug-fests that deliver hours of entertainment. All ages are welcome but children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. We are a very informal group that really gets into the games we play, so don't be afraid to introduce yourself and tell us what you'd like to play!

Wasteland: Sunday Gaming

Wasteland Gaming

And now for our regularly scheduled announcement: It's that time again!! Time for our even-Sunday of the month Meetup at the Wasteland! This will be the...well we've lost track of the number of times we've had this Meetup. We've done this enough times, that it has become a thing. It's been great to meet all of the new gamers to our group and reconnect with old gamers as well. Let's keep this thing going! As usual, the Wasteland is a great place for our Meetup. They have lots of tables so that we can spread out with our games. They also have a respectable selection of store copies of games as well as games and snacks for sale. Sometimes the Wasteland is really busy with a tournament, so we are not in our usual spot near the door. We will still be there, though! Look for our sign identifying us as the Gwinnett Boardgame Society. So come by and say "hi". If we are in a game, we might not notice new people coming in the door, but we will pause to chat if you stop by. If you're new to our group, please read about us and the games we play in our About Us/Pages section: http://www.meetup.com/boardgames-368/about/ All ages welcome but children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. We are a very informal group that gets into the games we play, so don't be afraid to introduce yourself! Feel free to request g;ames from our collection. It is mostly up to date: http://boardgamegeek.com/collection/user/ohgeetee?own=1&subtype=boardgame&ff=1
