What we’re about

Welcome, seeker.

This is not another cookie-cutter social club. This is a gathering for the ones who never quite fit the mold, who know how heavy silence can be, and who still choose to create something beautiful from it.

We are painters of miniatures, makers of candles, hikers of haunted paths, crafters of wood and resin, seekers of meaning in a world that often feels hollow. We build. We forge. We illuminate—with our hands, our minds, and our presence.

Whether you're drawn to handcrafted goods, eerie stories under moonlight, the quiet smell of wax melting, or the whir of a 3D printer crafting something that’s never existed before—you're home here.

And if you’ve ever felt unseen, misread, or underestimated based on the surface? Same.

That’s why we built our own society—one that values depth, imagination, and presence over pretense.

We’re not here to impress the algorithm.
We’re here to gather a rare kind of person—the kind who’s not looking for “normal.”
You’ll know if this is your place. And if not, keep scrolling.

Because the light we carry?
It was never meant for everyone.

My name is Daclaud, and welcome to The Obsidian Lantern Society (Societas Laternae Obsidianae).

Our motto: "In Nocte, Creatio Viget" (In the Night, Creation Thrives).

Our Meeting Location is usually after hours at my office space located in Westerville, Ohio on 309 S. State Street (second floor). The entrance is the rather unassuming and it's through the back door behind the State Farm Insurance building.

⚠️⚠️⚠️ THE RULES ⚠️⚠️⚠️

⭐ Ratings: I don't accept ratings below 5 stars (this ain't Yelp, bitch!). If you are not 100% satisfied, then YOU are the problem, not the group and not the events and I won't change the concept/theme or culture of the group based on a star rating. I'm also not inclusive to haters (you all can fuck off).

Now, don't get me wrong, I understand that if I messed up in anyway, then of course, I would hold myself accountable, but I don't (and won't) apologize for hosting events centered around stuff I enjoy doing just because you didn't happen to like it.

If you are not completely satisfied with the event, then you can either remove yourself from the group or if you are too lazy to do so and want to make me do it for you, then it will just be a straight up ban (which means you have no chance of ever joining again). Seriously, Meetup should allow us to rate individuals too (let's bring back public shaming of scumbags).

If you're a hater, then here is a suggestion: click on the "Start a New Group" button, pay Meetup $300 and go start your own group. No one is stopping you from doing this.

No Shows and Cancellations: Respect my time or get booted. Simple. Don't randomly sign up to events like some kind of lunatic/flake and then not show up. I get that shit happens and sometimes you can't make it, but this message is for the people who do it over and over again. This is just general etiquette and should not have to be explained.

Why am I so strict? Why am I so angry? Because I have been on and off Meetup for over 5 years and I am sick of seeing this kind of behavior. People need to be held accountable, and people need to be called out.
