Seon Meditation is a traditional Korean meditation method based on energy exercises, danjeon breathing, and focused meditation. It has been practiced for thousands of years. Seon itself means to know and understand nature, people and the universe. The starting step is to know about yourself- the state of your body, mind and energy, and to know about these the best place to start is to look at your own breathing.

Where are you breathing from? How are you breathing? Is it deep? Is it long? Are you breathing out deeply? Breathing in deeply? Are you lowering your breathing? Is your mind comfortable? How are my muscles? Are my shoulders stressed? Is my waist tense?

As you observe step by step the body as you do light exercises, the body and the mind calm down allowing for deeper breathing and deeper space in the mind. Everyone, in a short period of time, learns to natural let their mind rest in their breathing spot at the center of their gut below the navel.

The benefits of breathing, concentrating and moving the energy in your body are peace of mind, being in the zone of concentration, inspiration, health, creativity, and insight.

At our class we will do light exercises to move the joints of the body, remove tension in the body and promote strength and flexibility. Then we will do breathing exercises and go into meditation. Make sure to bring comfortable clothes.
