This intimate workshop is all about patching the holes left by bootcamps or other online courses. Many hiring companies often have a bias against bootcampers and self taught coders because the courses they learn from typically only teach one way of accomplishing a task using only one language or stack. Another words, these courses go very deep into one aspect of programming, but not very broad.

The goals of this workshop is to:
Learn specific qualities and skills experienced coding interviewers are looking for.
Dissect the tech industry specifically from Silicon Valley giants to startups to banks and how the hiring practices vary
Navigating the world of coding languages: which ones are in high demand and pay, which ones are up and coming, and which one you should learn next.
Identifying the different types of coding jobs

Workshop Instructor:
William Young is a former Wall Street Trader turned coder and has architected many systems for a variety of companies -- from electronic trading platforms to big data/machine learning platforms to web applications, and more. He has held positions at several banks and hedge funds in New York, and several small startups in New York and San Francisco. William loves to teach, and believes in the “full stack” approach where new coders learn multiple languages and technologies at once. He is also passionate about discussing current hiring trends in the market, and his mentees have landed roles at various startups and Fortune 500 companies.

Bonus for attendees:
Each attendee will get a half hour to ask Will post-workshop specific questions about their job search.
