Sunday Hacker Hours at Brooklyn Public Library

From: Aidan F.

Hey folks-
Excited to announce that we are trying out hosting Sunday Hacker Hours at the Brooklyn Public Library Central Branch.

The library is on Grand Army Plaza, at the top of Prospect Park. Why I'm excited about this:
  • We should have more consistent access to space, including a large room with a dry erase board and a projector.
  • The library's mission is to "provide the people of Brooklyn with free and open access to information for education, recreation and reference." Hacker Hours fits squarely into this, which makes them an awesome partner.
  • You can borrow laptops while at the library for free (just need an ID), which means Hacker Hours becomes accessible to people without the means to buy/carry their own laptop.
  • By being present in that public space and being included in their events listing, I bet we will get a larger, broader, more diverse attendance.
If it works well for September, we'll continue beyond that. Keep an eye on the Meetup events for location info.

See you in the stacks, starting this Sunday!

-Aidan
