What are Transistors? Let's make a High Five Sensor (10 yr and up)

You've learned how LEDs work. Now on to the next step. Join us to learn how transistors work.

Note: This session's age range is 9+

Almost 60 years old, the transistor is the cornerstone of the world of electronics - both analog and digital. In this session we will cover the basic of the transistor and why its use is still so in the digital world and we will be working on a fun project.

• What are transistors? - What do they look like? - What is their primary function? - Why are they important for my robot?

We will build a test case on our breadboards to understand how they work. Time: The session is 1 hour 30 minutes. Most of the time will be spent hands-on.

Please note that transistors is a complex subject and may be more suited for +9 yr old. Younger kids may have to work with an adult to complete the project. If time permits, we will add a counter to our project.

Collateral: There will be some collateral that you will have access to. Bring a computer or iPad to access it.
