docketsync: Tools for retrieving comments from regulations.gov
When United States government agencies considers new rules to change the way they work, a multi-step process is kicked off to investigate whether the rule is needed, the impact of the rule, and solicit feedback from the public. While the documents describing the rules themselves are made available online at https://www.federalregister.gov/, the public comments are stored and made available through the https://www.regulations.gov website. Join us as we explore the information made available through the https://www.regulations.gov website, and introduce docketsync, a set of homegrown tools in R and Python for retrieving a potential rule's public comments.
