Electronics Night: Bipolar Transistors

Details
The inaugural Electronics Night session will be on bipolar transistors.
Electronics Night is a regular Thursday evening session where we sit around a table and discuss some topic in digital or analog electronics. None of us are experts. We will pool everyone’s knowledge to learn something new.
Electronics Night is both theoretical and practical: we will talk about theory and models and look at schematics, but we will also build practical circuits to apply our knowledge.
Our first session will be on bipolar junction transistors, both as switches and as amplifiers. We will probably look at simple common emitter switch and amplifier circuits. We may also look at constant current LED drivers.
