What we're about

The Hagerstown Vegan Meetup Group provides a great forum to meet fellow vegans, health-seekers, activists, environmentalists, raw food enthusiasts, backyard organic gardeners, etc. and to learn more about alternative health lifestyles and the impact of our food choices on our health, communities and environment!

We currently have regular potlucks and occasional topic-based meetings. So, come join us as we build a healthy-living, eco-conscious, compassionate and fun-loving community in the Hagerstown area!

Note: All our food events are vegan, though we welcome curious omnivores and long-term vegans alike! Everyone needs their fruits and veggies! However, with such a diversity of dietary concerns these days, please make sure to carefully label all potluck dishes. For a list of animal-derived ingredients, check out . http://www.happycow.net/health-animal-ingredients.html

Spring Vegan Potluck

Doug's House

Doug from Frederick Veg asked me to post this event here. This is what is written on the Frederick Veg page: "Hi everyone! Come out and enjoy a spring potluck! Please bring a vegan dish to share (no meat, dairy, eggs or honey) with the list of ingredients attached for allergies or if people want to know the recipe. If you can, please bring your own plates, cups, plastic ware, etc. We hope to see you there! Note: There are two very friendly dogs (Dachshunds) in the house."

2019 Boonsboro Green Fest

Shafer Park

I (Alan) will be tabling at this event again this year promoting the vegan lifestyle in general as well as the Shepherdstown Area and Hagerstown groups. Please join me if you can and would like to. Below is copied from the Green Fest's Facebook page: "Boonsboro Green Fest will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2019. An opening ceremony will begin at 9:45 a.m. at the bandstand. Organizers expect the park to be filled to capacity with 200 vendors again this year, so vendors are urged to apply as soon as possible before all the spaces are taken. (There will be a waiting list.) The festival will also feature Live Music all day long, a Recycling drop-off center, Kids Zone, Food Pavilion/Food Trucks, and a Local Wine and Beer Garden. Proceeds from the garden go directly to the Friends of Shafer Park. Proceeds from the Clothing and Sports Equipment Swap benefit Micah's Backback and Children in Need. Vendors are chosen based on adherence to the Green Fest mission "to promote conservation, recycling and sustainable living within our community." Based on the themes or products of the vendors, they will be listed on the website and in the program brochure in various categories, such as Eco-Home, Eco-Lifestyle, Sustainable Agriculture & Gardening, Conservation & Recycling, Eco-Kids, Clean Energy Options, Health & Wellness, Eco-Transportation, Go Local, and Food & Refreshments. The vendor application, as well as forms to volunteer and to become a sponsor, can be found on this website. Forms are also available at Turn the Page Bookstore at 18 N. Main St., or by sending a request for a form to: Boonsboro Green Fest, PO Box 64, Boonsboro, MD 21713. The Green Fest Committee is the general sponsor of the annual festival, which is planned and produced by volunteers and is financed by vendor fees and the generosity of dozens of sponsoring partners. It is also an official event of the Town of Boonsboro. Don't miss this fantastic Community Event! [masked] www.boonsborogreenfest.com"

Magazine and Book Swap
Needs a date and time

Needs a location

Joanne inspired this idea when she brought her box of magazines to the picnic. I'd like to set a meet-up at the Williamsport, MD Library for members to bring magazines or books related to the Veg life, health, gardening, etc. to exchange or give away. Leftovers can be donated to the library.
