I am sorry to say that this group is likely to fold on the 20th May 2024 unless soneone steps forward to run the group. I am no longer able to lead walks due to health problems. I will leave the group information as below should someone wish to take over-
"Welcome to this fun and friendly group!
Founded in 2012 by Linda Munday, this group has always been run from the view that walking should be a pleasure, taken at a steady pace, not a route march. The walks are generally 3 to 8 miles in length and give you time to stop and enjoy the beautiful scenery and reconnect with nature. We also love socialising and I will try to offer the opportunity to meet up for a pub drink or tea shop visit during or at the end of the walks.
When the group was set up in 2012, we were the first and only Hampshire wide walking meet up.
I took over as Organiser in November 2023. I am based in Locks Heath near Fareham and as Hampshire is such a large County travelling times for attendees including myself are a consideration. Most of the walks are likely to be in Central Hampshire or South Hampshire. I try and arrange a walk at least once a month. You can see photos on Meetup of the beautiful countryside seen on some of our recent walks.
I also hope to put on some social events such as meals, pub evenings or visits to places of interest such as National Trust properties where a walk in the grounds and a visit to the cafe are likely favourites. Suggestions for walks and social events are always welcome.
I hope in time that other members may wish to Lead or Co lead walks or social events. It is useful to have a Co Leader for walks, to back mark or stand in if the Leader is ill on the day and unable to attend. Always check Meetup and your e mails for any changes before coming on a walk.
The group is open to people aged 18 and over and is not just for single people. We have couples who walk with us as well as those who have partners who perhaps don't like walking. I do recommend that you wear appropriate walking boots and outdoor attire.
