Hike/Walk at 64th Street, Hikers, First Landing Park, Friday mornings at 9 am

Moderate pace hike at 64th Street entrance to First Landing State Park. This is a shaded area with dirt paths. Great for knees, feet and shade from the sun. Be at the water cooler by 8:55 am because we're counting noses and leaving no later than 9:01.

Meet at the water cooler by the first parking lot past the small building where you pay for parking if you park in the Park

The hiking directions;

The first leg of the hike will leave from the parking lot down a wide path. We'll walk about 1-1/2 miles. If you're a slower walker, no worry. You can walk at your own pace and find others to walk at your pace. The fastest walkers will turn around after reaching the distance and walk back to the parking lot. If you're a slower walker, you can turn around when the fast walkers walk by, or even sooner. This is your time, distance and pace.

The second leg of the hike will start back at the parking lot (around 9:40 in case that's the earliest you can make the hike. You can arrive at 9:35 - 9:40 at the water cooler, if that's the earliest you can make it).

The second leg will go across the road from the water cooler into a wooded area with a path. We'll walk about 3/4 mile in this direction, until we reach the petrified area where it's too sunny to walk. Then we'll turn around and walk back to the parking lot.

Those who want a longer hike, can duplicate the first leg again. Most days, I'll be doing the third leg with whoever wants to continue hiking.

PARKING

If you have a First Landing parking pass, continue on 64th Street into the park. Drive just past the small building in the center of the road. The parking lot is immediately on your right. The water cooler is next to the parking lot not far from the small building.

If you don't have a parking pass (like most of us), park for free on 64th Street. Park and walk down the road 1/4 mile or so into First Landing. Walk a few yards past the small building. The water cooler is on your right. Allow an extra 10 minutes to park and walk to the water cooler.

If there's no parking on 64th Street, no problem t the beginning of 64th, there's an off road (not the main road) that usually has plenty of parking. After parking, walk down 64th Street into the park. Walk past the small building. The water cooler is on your right. Allow an extra 12 minutes to park and walk to the water cooler.
