FREE Car Camping 8,300’ Chula Vista Campground, Mt Pinos

Escape from the summer heat!
At 8,300 ft elevation Chula Vista is a FREE campground hidden in a dense pine forest with plenty of shade.
It has picnic tables, fire pits, and pit toilets. There’s no water so bring your own supply.

Arrive anytime, Friday or Saturday, it’s up to you, even late night, we’ll leave the light on for you…:)))
Campsites are first come, first served, but there are plenty of open spaces for everyone.

Optional: There will be a day hike on Saturday to the summit of Mt Pinos (2 mi), and for those who want to continue, on to Sawmill Mt. (4mi), or to Sheep Camp (5mi w/overnite backpacking option)

Chula Vista is technically a walk-in campground as it is located 135 yards, or a quick, 3 minute walk from the parking lot. Many folks use yard carts or hand trucks to haul their camping equipment and coolers to the their campsites.

From downtown LA it usually takes about an hour and a half to reach the Mt Pinos parking lot, plus the 3 minute walk to the campground. :))
