The ability to feel pain or pleasure?
When there is a recognizable human brainwave (EEG)?
Being conscious of oneself, i.e. being able to think of oneself as oneself at least at a rudimentary level.
The ability to make decisions or the capacity to exercise other forms of higher cognitive thought?
At birth, or when able to survive without its placental mother?
When does an individual cease to be human?
When one gains individual human status, do/should they get “human rights” all at once or as they pass milestones?
Should other lifeforms receive the same rights if the meet the criteria set for humans?
If humanity at large has the right to assign rights to individuals as described, do they also have the right to remove those rights?
