China is a rapidly growing market for AI/robotics companies as more and more traditional industries are seeking for technology enhancing business and improving efficiency. But entering China is always difficult for U.S. tech companies as nearly all Silicon Valley tech giants failed or struggles there. How does an AI/robotics startup find real business opportunies and sell products/solutions to corporate customers in China?

At this event, Simon Wu, Head of Business Development, China at Comet Labs, will share his ideas for technology startups about how to enter China market and sell products/services to corporate customers in China based on his experience, and address the following questions :

• What are the main differences between the traditional corporates in China and in the western world?

• What are the main expectations of industrial giants in China on new technologies?

• How to avoid language, culture and institution barrier when approaching a corporate customer in China?

• What does Comet Labs offer to B2B AI/robotics startups that plan to enter China market?

Simon joined Comet Labs in 2016 and leads the China business development team to build partnership with and engage sponsorship from the corporates across industries in China that look forward to using AI and robotics to enhance business and improve efficiency. He organized Comet Labs Retail Challenge in 2016 with partners and sponsors of leading retailers like Wanda Plaza, Wumart, Yintai and Red Star Macalline.

Simon has a strong R&D background on industrial manipulator and computer vision. He received a bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics and Robotics from University of Leeds and a master's degree in Mechatronics from Newcastle University.

Prior to joining Comet Labs, Simon spent his career at Güdel and GE with BD and KA positions, focusing on technology commercialization and operation for corporate customers in China. He played vital roles in several big projects at GE China, including a successful bid for a $40 million offshore GT platform project for CNOOC in 2015, which was the only GT project between the two companies in five years.
