Lone Star Hiking Trail, TH #6, 10 Miles

One of the hidden jewels of Texas, the Lone Star Hiking Trail is the only long-distance National Recreation Trail in the state. At 128 miles (including loop trails), it is also the state’s longest continuously marked and maintained footpath. The trail meanders through gently rolling forests of pine, oak, cypress, palms and mixed hardwood. The seemingly endless variation of forests, most of which is designated wilderness, provides a paradise for backpackers and trail hikers.

Lone Star Trailhead #6 is just off FM 1375, west of the Lake Conroe bridge, on Forest Service Rd 274. When exiting FM 1375, the forest service road dead ends after a short distance to the parking area.

The Hike:

Please note that due to the closure of the multi-use trails, the original hike which was a loop had to be changed to an out and back route.
Beginning at Trail Head #6, we'll cross over FM 1375 and head South, doing an out and back on that section of the trail. Returning and crossing FM 1375 and passing Trailhead #6, we'll hike North, passing Lake Conroe until we reach Stubblefield Campground. After taking a mid break, we'll return, completing the hike.

The Trail: Mostly native trail with a short section of improved road. Mostly shaded.
