The Hike:
This is a great hike in the woods with over 80% shade so come and get 10 miles closer to finishing the HATS Lone Star Trek and enjoy the walk in the forest as the seasons turn.
The hike covers the portion of the LSHT nest to Lake Conroe. You can take a short break to soak in the lake view close to the end. (Pictured above) This is a great spot to come back to for a picnic later on. Some people swim here.

If you don't feel well or find that you can't keep up, tell someone right away. We can help. But stop walking so it doesn't become something serious.
HATs organizers are not guides nor do we have any special training. We are here to come up with hiking ideas and get the hike started. Take the same precautions you would if hiking alone, including the fitness needed to make long hikes. Then enjoy the hike among friends.

The Trail:
The trail is a mix of the Lone Star Hiking Trail, the SHNF Multi-use trails and forest service roads, trails through the woods. The loose sand on the multi-use trails can be very demanding.
Common sense requires us to step off the trail when a motorbike comes along.
We have been hiking these multi-use trails for 15 years. Riders are courteous and we and never had any problem with the riders. They typically maintain safe speeds on the trail that give them ample time to slow for hikers.
