Walk through the quaint and picturesque town of Black Mountain, called the "front porch of Western North Carolina." Meet at 12:30 p.m. at the Black Mountain Town Hall, 160 Midland Ave., Black Mountain NC. Restrooms are available 2 blocks away at the Town Square (outdoor park) at the intersection of NC 9 (Montreat Road) and W. State Street. There will be no open restrooms along the walk route, so prepare ahead of time.

We will be joining the Asheville Amblers, AARP, Stryder, the Clyde Elite Walking Team, and perhaps some others for this walk. At 12:30 is the walk registration. The walk is free, but the Asheville Amblers (who curated this event) will accept donations (suggested amount $4.00.) The walks step-off at 1:00 p.m.

You will be able to choose between a 7 KM/4.3 mile walk and a 10 KM/6.2 mile walk. Both walks are guided, with the pace of the shorter walk being a bit slower and the pace of the longer walk being a bit faster. There are some moderate hills, but most people will not need walking poles; the walk is almost entirely on pavement, so tennis shoes are fine.

This walk features a greenway and a loop around Lake Tomahawk. The longer walk also includes the "Oaks" mansion repurposed for use by Montreat College.

Dogs are welcome. Dress for the weather. As always, bring water and a protein snack.
