Why A Mental Health Digital Innovation Challenge is Needed
1 in 5 Americans suffer from some type of mental disorder. About 11.4 million adult Americans suffered from severe mental illness in the past year and 8.7 million adults contemplated serious thoughts of suicide. Among them, more than 2 million made suicide plans and about 1 million attempted suicides. What new digital technologies are being used to reduce mental illness and it’s impact on our families?
This emerging digital mental space is showing up technology applications ranging from tele-psychiatry / counseling to mobile apps to social media/education to wearable/sensible biomonitoring to care coordination/her platforms to consumer EEG to virtual reality & games.
This event is about showcasing & supporting firms in this space while bringing together a cross section of stakeholders interested in improving mental healthcare.
We will be inviting and challenging some of the brightest minds in the medical, mental health and engineering fields to submit their ideas on how digital technologies can
-
improve mental health services cost, access and quality to patients, and
-
support providers in their practices so they can treat each case as effectively as possible. From mobile phone applications to telemedicine, to leveraging the vast amounts of data today, there are many areas of opportunity.
